# Cat cafe MOCHA
A new type of Cafe born in Japan
#### Cat Cafe MOCHA
What kind of image do you have when you hear the word "cat café"?
The first cat café appeared in Japan in Osaka in 2004, followed by the appearance of a cat café from Okinawa in 2007 to foster abandoned cats, and the number of shelter cat cafés began to increase.
Pet stores also entered the cat café business.
Because all you need is a cat and a place to do it, the low barriers to entry led to a sudden increase around 2008 as a business category that could be opened casually.
However, as awareness of the business category spread, it is also true that the division between stores that can continue in business and those that cannot became clear, as people who do not like cats do not even think of going there.
## It's the cat that works.
Cats, not people, work in the cat café.
Customers come to the café to watch the cats' every move.
Customers spend an average of 70 minutes in the café, and the only time humans serve them is when they visit the store. The rest of the time is spent between the cat and the customer.

## Why do people come to Café? A survey of Café use (2023) was conducted.
When asked, "For what purpose do you use a café? (multiple answers allowed)," the most common answer was "for rest and refreshment," indicating that they are in the "eating and drinking" business and not the "place to be" business and not the "food" business.
When asked, "For what purposes do you use cafes? (Multiple answers allowed), the results were as follows.
For those who live in central Tokyo: "To rest and refresh (68.8%)," "To eat and drink (56.7%)," "To kill time while meeting others (31.2%)," "To talk with friends and acquaintances (30.7%)," and "To work or study (13.2%).
Those living in rural areas: "To rest and refresh (63.8%)," "To eat and drink (56.9%)," "To talk with friends and acquaintances (33.1%)," "To kill time while meeting others (25.0%)," and "To work or study (11.9%).
Comparing those who live in central Tokyo and those who live in rural areas, the rankings of the top items were slightly different, but there was not much difference in the percentages.
The most common reason for using cafes was to "take a break" or "refresh," and the next most common reason for using cafes was to "eat and drink.

## Interior and exterior of MOCHA
The store is located in the center of a shopping mall. It is located next to the central atrium escalator. It is possible to peek into the store from the escalator, but the store windows are frosted glass up to the height of your back, so you cannot see inside.
